Your wedding day is going to be a whirlwind of love, tears, beautiful speeches, and… let’s be honest, some absolutely wild dance moves. While your photographer will capture the grand, romantic moments, there’s one magical place where your guests can truly let their hair down: the wedding photo booth.
The Pixie Booth is run by me, Lucy and my team of Pixie helpers, we are wedding experienced, and fully dedicated to elevating your wedding entertainment and capturing memories you’ll look back on for many years. I handle all the details so you can focus on enjoying your perfect day.
If you’re on the fence about adding a photo booth to your big day, or if you’ve already booked The Pixie Booth and want to make sure it’s the hit of the night, here is the ultimate guide to maximising the fun.

1. Location, Location, Location
A photo booth shouldn’t be an afterthought tucked away in a dark, distant hallway. If guests can’t see it, they won’t use it!
- Keep it near the action: Place the booth near the entrance or close to the dance floor.
- High traffic is key: When people see their friends laughing, wearing oversized sunglasses, and posing, it creates a domino effect. High visibility equals high engagement.
- Talk to your venue: Let them know your plans as the booth will need access to power.

2. Timing is Everything
You want your photo booth to open when the party energy is starting to peak.
Pro Tip: The sweet spot for a photo booth is usually right after the formal dinner ends and the evening reception begins. This is when the drinks are flowing, the formalities are over, and everyone is ready to have fun.
Having it open during dinner usually means an empty booth, so save those rental hours for prime party time!
3. How to Strike the Perfect Photo Booth Pose
Not everyone is a natural in front of the camera, and that is completely okay! A great photo booth experience is all about comfort and creativity. You could try grabbing the biggest glasses and the weirdest hat and just owning it. Or simply a romantic kiss (perfect for the newlyweds!).

4. Work the Props (But Don’t Let Them Hide You)
From vintage feather boas and custom signs to giant Elton John glasses, props give guests permission to be silly.
- Step 1: Grab one or two items that make you laugh.
- Step 2: Hold them near your face or strike a dramatic pose.
- Step 3: Don’t let a massive sign completely block your smile, we still want to see you!
5. Make It a Keepsake: The Photo Guestbook
One of the absolute best reasons to have a photo booth is the instant gratification.
At Pixie HQ , we print two copies of every photo strip: one for your guests to take home as a personalised wedding favour, and one to go straight into a custom guestbook. Guests can glue their photo down and write a heartfelt (or hilarious) note right next to it. By the end of the night, you have a fully finished, incredibly entertaining scrapbook of your favourite people.
